Heart of the Bride is one of thousands of charities with a presence in Haiti. Although we are not equipped to be effectively engaged in the immediate relief efforts, we are encouraging those who would like to help with the most urgent needs to donate to global relief organizations such as the Red Cross that are most equipped to organize and facilitate immediate help at such a catastrophic level.

HOWEVER, we are positioned to be uniquely engaged in recovery. Because of our many long term partnerships in the Northwest, we will be able to empower many nationals to significantly help their people through the long recovery process.

The Approach: Our Haitian partners will be able to effectively gather information and assess specific needs over the coming weeks through a wide range of relationships in Port au Prince. As the doors open, we will be able to use designated Recovery Funds to release our partners, partnering pastors, and over 50 young adults in our Northwest Haitian ministry to assist their own people in recovery and rebuilding in ways that the larger relief organizations may not be effective in the stages to follow. Our immediate efforts are focused on the thousands of refugees that have already come to our existing ministry location.
