A Family Rescue Story
Few visits stick in my mind like the one to Harmony’s family. After suffering years of abuse from her husband, Juliana gathered the courage to take her children out of that horrible situation and return to her home village. Her elderly father gave them a small room to call home. By small, I mean that the 4 of them live in a 10′ x 10′ room with one bed and all of their clothing. They had no food and no prospects of improving their situation.
With no where else to turn, Juliana began to wake early in the morning to cry out to God. Harmony, her 11 year old son, began to join her. Together, they lifted their voices to sing at 2 and 3am and prayed to God for deliverance.
After some time, Harmony took it upon himself to visit another church where he learned about the Eagles Christian Academy. He wrote a letter to Monica, ECA Founder, giving her some of their story and asking for admission into the school.
He only wanted a better education.
Later that week, Monica took some food and made a visit to their home. What she found was Juliana well dressed and with her hair recently cut. You see, Juliana had hit the end of what she knew to do and, out of desperation, she planned to end her life THAT NIGHT! But God…
God had a different plan. Monica began to minister to Juliana. Harmony and his brother were admitted into the ECA. The church, the Body of Christ in Kithianio, decided to build them a house.
Moved by their story, many people in the US joined in the effort and, by early November, the house was completed! A family that once lived with four people in a 10′ x 10′ room now has a real home. Juliana is now full of joy. Her health has improved so much that people in the village stop her to ask what she has done to look so much better. She shares that God met her in her most desperate hour. He used her son, who learned to cry out to God by her example, to connect them to the Body of Christ. Now, the family has been
RESCUED, REDEEMED, and RESTORED!
When the Body of Christ comes together, we can do much more than educate, feed, and clothe vulnerable children. We can see families transformed by the love of Christ. We can see thriving where there was once desperation. But we have to do it together. Join us and together we can Be the Answer for vulnerable children and their families around the world. Together, we can see families and communities transformed by the Gospel.
