First Fruits in Zambia
Adrian’s First Chickens
In Zambia, we are seeing some of the first fruits in our Skills Training Center for young men. Like many of those around him, Adrian was on the streets of Kitwe, Zambia for more than 20 years. He could barely walk, see, or hear from the damage caused by the inhaled drug they call “sticka.” And his mind seemed to be gone. The word that most of our outreach workers used for him was “mad.” No one thought he could recover from the damage that had been done.
Then, tragedy struck. In 2022, Adrian was attacked and his leg was purposefully broken. He couldn’t walk or take care of himself. Out of compassion, our staff decided to take him in, thinking that he may never be able to return and would, at best, be a permanent resident on our campus. But God had other plans. Adrian’s leg healed and he began to make tremendous progress. His hearing and vision returned, and his mind cleared.
Now, Adrian is healthy, clear minded, surrendered to Christ, and has become the lead caretaker of chickens in our chicken business! He is so dedicated to their care that he would visit the chicken coup through winter nights to make sure it stayed warm enough. The first round of chickens made enough profit to cover the cost of business, buy a new refrigerator, and have a little left over. He is growing in his faith and recently shared his testimony to inmates at a nearby prison. Adrian now has a hope and a future.
From hopelessness to hope and a future. Only God can do that!
